Our lovely volunteer debt advisor is having a special birthday soon. As it is impolite to discuss a lady’s age I will just give you a clue – it begins with 5 and ends with 0 (oy! who said 500!? Though I’m sure she feels it some days lol). To celebrate she is dragging, oops sorry, she is taking her husband on a little stroll along the West Highland Way.
(The West Highland Way is a linear long-distance route in Scotland. It is 154 km long, running from Milngavie north of Glasgow to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands, with an element of hill walking in the route. The trail, which opened in 1980, was Scotland’s first officially designated Long Distance Route and is now designated by Nature Scot as one of Scotland’s Great Trails. It is primarily intended as a long-distance walking route, and whilst many sections are suitable for mountain biking and horse-riding there are obstacles and surfaces that will require these users to dismount in places. – Thank you Wikipedia)
Wendy & Zak will be walking the whole distance which is no mean feat! She has been training – as in sitting on the sofa and thinking about walking, and eating a nutritious and varied diet – Maltesers, Twirls & bananas (and that’s just her breakfast). She has invested in all the correct gear – midge nets (see photo), a backpack for carrying her breakfast chocolate, and a two-person tent. All of her colleagues here at DDwD hope that the weather is kind and that she returns to us in one piece. We wish Wendy & Zak a fantastic trip and we can’t wait to see the photos.
Of course, Wendy being Wendy is not only walking a really long way but she is taking this opportunity to raise money for the Ditch Debt charity. Like most things in life, we need cash to survive. We hope that in 2021 we can reach out and help more families than before. Unfortunately, debt is still frowned upon and talked about in hushed voices. But we want to change that. Anybody anywhere can get into financial difficulties for all sorts of reasons. They need someone to talk to, to ask questions, and to give them sound and professional advice. Ditch Debt with Dignity can do that. If you would like to sponsor Wendy and donate to DDwD please go to her Just Giving page and give, whatever you can afford. Please and thank you.

Go, Wendy! Go, Zak!
After a day’s walk, everything has twice its usual value.
